Review over AutoHuren.nl

Zero stars for Autohuren.nl / EasyTerra – terrible service and communication

We booked a fully insured, all-inclusive rental car through Autohuren.nl. However, when we arrived in Sardinia, the local rental company refused to accept our credit card because the names were not written in full, but only displayed as initials. We were shocked, as this requirement was never mentioned in the terms and conditions of the company we booked through.

Despite using a valid Dutch credit card (and even trying an American Express card), they still would not accept it. As a result, we were forced to pay an additional €150 for another insurance policy.
Surprised and frustrated, we immediately called the emergency number listed on our voucher from Autohuren.nl — but no one answered. We were completely abandoned without any support, and had no choice but to sign the contract and pay the €150 extra in order to take the car.

We sent several emails right away but received no reply during the weekend.

Later, when we finally got in touch with Autohuren.nl, they claimed they could not help us because we had signed the rental contract in Sardinia. However, the fault lies entirely with them: they were unreachable at the critical moment, even though they later claimed to offer weekend support. We provided proof that we had called them without success, but they took no responsibility. This is absolutely disgraceful and shows a complete lack of service.

The original rental cost was already over €600 for just three days, and having to pay another €150 on top is outrageous. Moreover, there were very few alternatives available for a 7-seater vehicle, and refusing the car would have meant losing the full rental amount, a risk we could not take.

The service and communication from Autohuren.nl were extremely poor. They are clearly not aware of the specific requirements set by their local partners.
We strongly advise against booking with Autohuren.nl / EasyTerra.
