I strongly advise against renting with Goldcar based on my recent experience at Nice Airport.

We specifically booked and prepaid for the “Pick & Go” service, believing it would allow flexibility for late arrivals. Our flight from Amsterdam was slightly delayed (about 30 minutes), landing at 23:00 instead of 22:30. Despite this minor delay, we were told the Pick & Go desk had already closed at 22:00.

To avoid issues, the person who made the booking (with the same credit card used for payment) went to the counter before 22:00 with all required documents. Goldcar staff refused to release the vehicle and, when asked whether the main driver could collect it the next morning, they flatly said no. Later, the booking was marked as a no-show and canceled, and Goldcar kept the full prepaid amount.

This is unacceptable. We paid in advance, arrived within a reasonable timeframe, and made every effort to comply. Yet Goldcar showed zero flexibility, no willingness to help, and hid behind “policy” instead of providing the service we purchased.

In the end, we were left stranded late at night, forced to arrange alternative transport at our own cost, while Goldcar kept the full payment. Their customer service afterwards was equally unhelpful, repeating the same script and refusing even a partial refund.

If you are looking for reliability, fairness, or customer care, stay away from Goldcar. This company hides behind fine print and treats customers as disposable. There are many better options out there—don’t risk your trip being ruined like ours was.
